Al Salam International Company for Agricultural Development
Al Salam International Company for Agricultural Development and Investment is a leading company specializing in agricultural development and investment. It strives to provide integrated solutions that support the Egyptian agricultural sector and enhance production efficiency and quality, meeting the demands of the local and regional markets.
As part of its expansion strategy, the company established its Seeds Sector in October 2023, coinciding with the start of the winter growing season. Headed by Professor Dr. Ayman Abdel-Rabou, the Seeds Sector is the nucleus for developing high-quality vegetable varieties based on scientific principles and real-world field trials.
Since its inception, the Seeds Sector has relied on rigorous evaluation programs. It has collaborated with 15 companies, evaluating over 545 varieties of different vegetable crops. These efforts have resulted in contracts with 5 companies, bringing the sector's current portfolio to 5 officially registered varieties and 7 varieties currently under registration. In addition, several varieties are being evaluated locally in preparation for registration in the coming phases.
The Seed Sector conducted trials and demonstration plots in diverse agricultural areas, including Lower Egypt, desert lands, and the area east of the Suez Canal, with the aim of selecting the varieties best suited to Egyptian environmental conditions in terms of productivity, resilience, and market quality.
The sector also places special emphasis on engaging with farmers and those interested in the agricultural field by organizing field days. Among the most prominent of these were the winter cucumber and Souki cucumber demonstration days during the 2024 season, as well as the 2025 winter crop demonstration day, which included various crops such as peppers, tomatoes, eggplants, and bell peppers, in cooperation with leading farmers in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
Through its Seed Sector, Al Salam International for Agricultural Development and Investment is working to build long-term strategic partnerships and develop a robust portfolio of varieties that meet market needs and contribute to supporting Egyptian farmers and achieving sustainable agricultural development.
